Barbro Lauri-Beckett, DDS

Born and raised in Sweden, Dr. Beckett moved to California to study dentistry at UCLA. She graduated with a doctorate of dental science in 1975 and began practicing dentistry shortly after. Our Chico dental office has been serving residents of Chico, Paradise, Corning, Oroville, and Durham for over 30 years! Dr. Beckett is committed to bringing you the latest in restorative and cosmetic dental techniques, and she takes ongoing courses on the art and science of dentistry. She frequently studies cosmetic design abroad and has taken courses at the world-renowned Pankey Institute and the prestigious Seattle Institute with Dr. Frank Spear. Her eye for detail and artistic flare result in stunning esthetic dental work.

Currently, Dr. Beckett holds memberships with the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, American Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the American Association of Women Dentists. Dr. Beckett's dental office was awarded first place in Chico News as the top dental office.

Dr. Beckett and her husband, Bill, have been married for 36 years and have two children and one grandchild. In her free time, Dr. Beckett enjoys traveling, skiing, reading, and working out.

Sue Holley, Registered Dental Hygienist

A graduate of the University of Hawaii, Sue has been with our practice for over 20 years and has almost four decades of experience as a dental hygienist. She’s a coordinator for the Adopt a Home Program through the Far Northern Regional Center, participates on the editorial staff for the Root-Tips newsletter, and sits on the board of the Chico Area Dental Hygiene Study Club. Sue relishes the challenge of staying current with advances in dentistry and loves working with Dr. Beckett and our team. She’s been married to her husband, Michael, for almost 40 years; she has three children and four grandchildren. In her spare time, Sue likes to travel and go camping.

Ruth Portillo, Registered Dental Hygienist

Ruthie joined our team in 2002 after receiving her dental hygiene degree from Shasta College. She appreciates our team’s kindness and compassion toward patients and likes improving health through positive encouragement and excellent dental care. Ruth and her husband, Mark, have two boys. When she's not helping patients, Ruth likes to read, cook, and take walks in the park.

Cyndee Johnson, Registered Dental Hygienist

Cyndee is a 1992 graduate of Sacramento City College, School of Dental Hygiene. She is thrilled to be a part of Dr. Beckett's team of professionals, and with more than 25 years of experience in dentistry, she provides excellent preventive care to our patients. Cyndee has a passion for travel, and while living abroad taught in the Dental Assistant program at T.A.F.E. College in Perth, Australia. In her free time, Cyndee is the mother of one son and she also enjoys running, dancing, and gardening.

Mary Jenkins, Registered Dental Assistant with Expanded Function

Mary has 20 years of experience in dentistry and has been a member of our staff for the past 10 years. She likes working with our talented team and appreciates Dr. Beckett’s commitment to provide modern, comfortable dentistry. Mary values our dedication to outstanding care and enjoys getting to know our patients. Married to her husband, Scott, for almost two decades, Mary likes to spend time outdoors, fly fish, read, and work in her garden.

Jeannie Alexander, Registered Dental Assistant

Jeannie graduated from Western Career College in 1994 and brings 15 years of experience to our office. She loves how Dr. Beckett establishes rapport with each patient. Jeannie assists Dr. Beckett, ensuring our patients are comfortable and looking after their overall wellbeing. Away from the office, she enjoys spending time with her family in Almanor, golfing with her son, boating, or just relaxing by the lake.

Athena Zuniga, Registered Dental Assistant

Athena is a graduate of Butte College and has been a member of our staff for the past year. She takes pride in her profession and enjoys our close-knit team. Athena loves working with patients and delivering beautiful, healthy smiles. When she's not assisting Dr. Beckett, Athena likes to play softball, sing, dance, exercise, and spend time with her family and friends.

Suzanne McKa, Office Manager

Suzanne has been with our practice since 1988, the same year she received her license for dental assisting. She’s a member of the American Association of Dental Office Managers and is a member of the ADHP. Suzanne loves our caring, progressive practice where everyone goes above and beyond to exceed patient expectations. She appreciates Dr. Beckett’s commitment to education and her caring, professional relationships with our patients. Suzanne has been married to her husband, Mike an avid golfer, for 37 years. They have 3 children and 7 grandchildren. The love to travel in their RV and spend time with family and friends.
